I love to transform everyday objects into works of art. For example, I once created an entire exhibition featuring upcycled bathroom scales. Entitled “No Weigh”, the show was held at a plus-size clothing shop Lakewood, Ohio. The installation featured a series of vintage scales, each recreated into a small assemblage featuring recognizable found objects that have potential to inflict pain. While every scale had been carefully restored to working condition, they were no longer functional for measuring pounds or – more importantly – a person's worth. Instead, they served only to convey a cautionary tale of the dangers of being obsessed with weight and to encourage people to step away from the scale.
My mixed media pieces include a variety of art disciplines, including painting, collage, assemblage, jewelry making, weaving and woodworking.
